Senior Test Engineer

We are at a pivotal stage in our evolution, developing new technologies to monitor and actively reduce harmful gas emissions as well as pioneering work in the measurement of hitherto difficult gas compositions, creating new products suitable for low-carbon and other applications in the green economy.

We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the engineering team as they work to solve and troubleshoot complex engineering challenges to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Range of Duties:

    • Test Facilities: Manage the test facilities and complete various lab tasks, including preparing test equipment for runs, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace. Implement the design and build of bespoke test equipment.

    • Instrument Operation: Learn to operate and maintain Fluenta’s flow rigs, and other instruments and equipment.

    • Data Collection: Create test procedures, design test methodologies, participate in tests and experiments, record and analyse data accurately, use failure analysis techniques, and create/maintain detailed test plans, test trackers, and summary test reports.

    • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with D&D team members on test engineering for research, technology development, and product development projects. Review and approve test plans for engineering activities.

    • Mentorship: Mentor junior team members and advance them through both in-house and external training.

    • Suppliers: Manage relationships with external test houses and manage external test activities.

    • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

    • Continuous Learning: Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance your scientific knowledge and skills.

    • Travel: Occasional travel to other Fluenta sites and external test facilities may be required.

Qualifications

    • Degree level or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.

    • Experience in a similar position (test, calibration) min of 2 years.

    • Experience of creating design validation plans.

    • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

    • Experience of supervising junior team members.

    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

    • Knowledge of safe working practices in an engineering environment (COSHH, Risk assessment process, etc).

    • Proven ability to plan, organise, prioritise, and oversee activities to meet the business objectives.

    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

    • Excellent ‘pc’ skills with the ability to learn software associated to the laboratory.

    • Test rig design experience preferred.

    • Six sigma test methodology knowledge preferred.

    • Knowledge of manual machining (milling and turning) would be beneficial.

    • Product development experience preferable

    • Understanding of ultrasonic measurement principles preferable
