Case Studies – The Dangote Refinery

Case Studies

Challenge

We were asked to install measurement solutions for a customer in Nigeria in a range of pipes including both a 65” and a 90” flare line, both with potentially high levels of CO2

Solution

It’s important to keep the tip-to-tip sensor distance within certain limits because high CO2 would absorb transmitted signal. It’s also important to protect the sensors from contaminants, so we employed a range of techniques from using dual-path sensors with a 0.5 offset, reducing the insertion angle, and providing protection through insertion tubes.

Result

Whilst the site is still undergoing some commissioning, the results have been impressive so far, and we will continue to work with the customer until every line is commissioned and fully compliant.
